View Full Version : Hassan Beili?
I've just started working on my Geneology Tree and find myself lost. My grandfather was supposedly born in Hassan Beili, but I can't find where this "city" is located. The only info I found on it is a document saying a couple thousand Armenians from Hassan Beili were deported to Allepo sometime during the Genocide, and that's it. I'm wondering if the spelling is correct, or maybe it isn't a city just some kind of "camp" from the Genocide times.
Any information is greatly appreciated.
Also, do any of you have knowledge of some kind of list of ppl who pasted away in the Genocide or any suggestions on how I could find more information on my grandfather's ascendants?
Again, thanks in advance,
Jen
PS: Any Minassian's or Ichkhanian's around here?

I have never heard of Hassan Beili, but if it's cool to guess I'd say it's around Niygdeh or Afyon Garahisar, where my mom's side is from. By the way, are you full Armenian or just tracing a part of your ancestry?
I'm guess I consider myself half Armenian. My dad was born in Brazil, and his parents in Armenia (my grandmother was born in Lebanon but just because her mom fled Armenia, just to return later). I have no trace of Brazilian blood in past generations, so I that's why I consider myself half Armenian, half Spanish (my grandparents from my mom's side are from Spain). My dad always tells me that when they were young, they were only allowed to speak Armenian in their house and in one instance, when he was 6 y.o., he asked his father for some water in Portuguese and he got a slap in the face for that. Also, they grew up going to Armenian schools, churches, clubs and so did we (their grandchildren). I only had the opportunity to attend an Armenian School during my highschool, so I learned very little of the language, but again, we always lived surrounded by other Armenians. So yes, I'm half Armenian.
As for Hassan Beili, I'm having a very hard time finding such place...my grandparents passed away and now there is no one left to help me out. My dad, can't make up his mind about the stories his dad used to tell him, so sometimes he says his dad was born in Adana, but he is almost sure it was in Hassan Beili. There are NO documents left of my grandfather, since, for some unknown reason, he decided to change his last name with his cousin when he got to Brazil (we were supposed to be Ichkhanians, not Minassians), so I guess that's the end for my Geneology tree on my dad's side of the family. (I will look into those cities you mentioned...maybe there is something related to what I'm looking for)
